The History of Africa
We begin our studies of Africa's history just after the fall of the great African Empires and the rise of the slave trade. Our questions for this unit are:
How did Africa go from having some of the most advanced civilizations on earth (Egypt and Mali to name a couple), to falling behind in modernization?
If Africa has some of the world's most important and expensive natural resources, why do they not have strong economies?
The answers to these questions of course lies in the slave trade and the colonization of Africa by European countries.
